Overview

North Horizon is looking for a proactive and analytical Financial Analyst to join our team and make a real impact on our organization. In this role, you will take ownership of the monthly closing process, journal entries, financial statements and tax reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will also contribute to budgeting, forecasting and analysis, turning complex data into actionable insights that help drive key business decisions. Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate in the monthly closing process by preparing and finalizing journal entries, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  2. Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements, providing accurate insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Support tax reconciliation and provide analysis to facilitate the tax team’s filing process.
  4. Conduct internal reviews of financial data to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  5. Assist in budgeting and forecasting, presenting analysis outcomes to internal stakeholders.
  6. Analyze complex data from diverse sources, providing actionable insights to support business decisions.
  7. Independently generate detailed reports to support management discussions with insights and recommendations.
  8. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues efficiently and driving continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
  9. Ensure precision and integrity of financial data, maintaining proper recording of accounts to support financial health and compliance.
  10. Provide ad-hoc reports and support special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  1. 1–3 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles, with strong analytical and management reporting capabilities.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  3. Actively pursuing a CPA designation is preferred; pursuing a CFA designation with an interest in back-office financial operations is also valued.
  4. Strong understanding of ASPE and IFRS standards and their application in financial reporting and analysis.
  5. Ability to understand and interpret contracts is an asset.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with effective communication abilities.
  7. Proficiency in Excel is mandatory; advanced skills (Macros and VBA) are a significant plus.
  8. Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  9. Fluency in English is required; the ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset.
