We are looking for an exceptionally talented individual to join our Asset Allocation & Investment Research team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team, make a significant impact, and demonstrate your leadership and value in investment research across multiple different asset classes.
The Asset Allocation & Investment Research group’s mandate includes asset allocation, new investments initiatives, hedging strategies along with direct investing and/or providing advice in passive and active investment mandates in both public and private markets.
Position Overview
- Participate in the investment research process, from idea generation to investment implementation across a variety of asset classes
- Review proposed private equity investments sourced across the firm:
-Perform fundamental research on private equity companies (including venture capital), with a focus on high growth technology and disruptive companies
-Conduct in-depth fundamental research which includes competitor analysis, industry dynamics, and competitive positioning
-Other responsibilities include building financial models, gap and exit analysis, due diligence on management teams and other critical analysis
- Conduct research on external portfolio managers and investment products on an ad hoc basis
- Present topical industry research in areas such as technology (AI, cybersecurity, etc.), real estate and heath care; articulating important investment decision rationale(s) on the subject
- Stay abreast to both public and private markets, macroeconomics, regulatory updates, and industry developments that may impact investment decisions, and incorporate these insights into the research process
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal investment policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, mathematics or a related field. MBA, MFin and/or CFA designation highly preferred
- Minimum 5 years investment research experience, with a proven track record of generating value through investment recommendations at North American investment institutions
- Deep understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and valuation techniques
- A generalist across multiple sectors and/or asset classes is preferred, but specific industry experience in information technology, health care or real estate is an asset
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative skills, proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis
- Strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to effectively articulate investment theses and insights
- Ability to thrive in an institutional environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
